Our First Protest March

Our usual Friday afternoon siesta was rudely interrupted by a very large group of protestors chanting and singing and beeping truck horns. I have to say their exuberance puts the NZEI Union marches to shame. These people were peaceful but passionate and there would have only been a couple of thousand which is pretty small compared to the marches and sit ins in the central city.
It was a little off putting though when the crowd stopped and started looking up at our building. Someone above us was chanting with them on a megaphone and when he eventually appeared on the street they picked him up and carried him down the street with them. Amazing scene to watch from behind our windows... and a really good reason for us to stay at home on Friday after prayers.
The photos are a little blurry but that's because the windows were closed.

It's now been 10 minutes since they passed through and we've just heard the first tooting of cars. There's a few more tags on the walls of the building across the street and the blue container outside our place otherwise you wouldn't know the protestors were even here. I wonder how many were pro Morsi marchers and how many were pro democracy marchers.
